January 11, 2018 – Facebook announced that they will be altering their news feed to place a higher prominence on users friends and family status updates, and suppress visibility of company, organizations and celebrity pages.

“We built Facebook to help people stay connected and bring us closer together with the people that matter to us, “ Mark Zuckerburg, Facebook founder and CEO, wrote on his Facebook page. "Recently we've gotten feedback from our community that public content — posts from businesses, brands and media — is crowding out the personal moments that lead us to connect more with each other.”

With the new prioritization of personal connections, Inc. magazine estimates businesses, brands and media will see an 80 percent reduction in page reach. It is also anticipated that users time on Facebook will dramatically decrease, and the price for advertisements will dramatically increase.
